Lori Beds feature a high-durability textured woodgrain face made from high-pressure laminate (HPL), which is not suitable for painting.
Why Can’t HPL be Painted?
- Non-Porous Surface – Paint does not adhere well to HPL, leading to peeling or chipping.
- Durability & Resistance – HPL is specifically designed to withstand moisture, stains, and wear, making it difficult for paint to bond properly.
- Smooth Finish – The sleek, factory-applied laminate prevents paint from creating an even, long-lasting coat.
YouLift Beds feature a real-wood veneer sealed with a factory-applied clear coat. This finish is not suitable for painting or staining.
Why can’t a clear-coated veneer be painted or stained?
- Non-Absorbent Surface. The clear coat creates a sealed, non-porous barrier so paint or stain cannot penetrate the wood. Any coating applied on top will sit on the surface and is likely to peel or scratch off.
- Durability of the Clear Coat. The protective topcoat is engineered to resist moisture, abrasion, and household wear. These same properties prevent new finishes from bonding effectively.
- Smooth Factory Finish. The surface is uniformly smooth and cured at the factory, which does not provide the mechanical texture required for primer or paint to adhere reliably.
If you’re looking for a different color or finish, we recommend choosing from our available finish options to ensure a durable, high-quality appearance.
